The Ardbeg Grooves Committee bottling was released to mark Ardbeg Day 2018. The inspiration behind the name comes from the grooves created after heavily charring ex-red wine casks used in the maturation. The resulting whisky is mellow and spicy with a great smokiness.

This Islay distillery renowned for it’s peaty whiskies was initially documented way back in 1794. In recent years it’s expressions have won esteemed awards like World’s Best Single Malt and World Whisky of the Year to name just a few. The distillery brought out its peatiest whisky to date in 2009 named Supernova.

Official Tasting Notes
Nose: Smoked cinnamon and paprika, antique leather and saddle soap with classic pine resin, tar, and briney seaspray. A distant hint of a fragrant bonfire by the shores of the distillery and, finally, and unusual savoury note, like chilli-seasoned meats. A little splash of water releases some beautiful, unexpected aromas: lavender scented soap, ground white pepper, entwined with floral and herbal notes. Fresh flowers mix with coriander and mint.
Palate: An powerfully salty mouthfeel with sweet treacle toffee, vanilla popcorn, salted peaches, and a hint of soot and tar. Again those distinctive savoury notes of smoky BBQ, paprika, spice, mustard, fade into a haze of smoked pears and apples, almost like pear cider.
Finish: Smoked paprika and beach bonfire with mellow sweetness throughout.
