Auchentoshan Whisky
Auchentoshan dates back to 1823 when it was founded by John Bulloch. It is located in the Scottish Lowlands just outside Clydebank in West Dunbartonshire.
The owner Beam Suntory bought Morrison Bowmore in 1994 in so doing took Auchentoshan distillery under its wing. One of the company's most recent goals has been to lengthen the fermentation period in order to create more flavour in the spirit. To do this a seven day production was implemented plus two more waskbacks were recently added allowing a 70 hour fermentation time.
Auchentoshan is the only Scottish distillery that triple distills all the new make spirit. The alcohol by volume reaches up to 81% after the triple distillation. This more time consuming method results in a style of whisky that is light, smooth, delicate and fruity.
In the core range there are some cracking whiskies. The no age American Oak, 12 years, Three Woods, 18 and 21 year olds. In 2013 a Virgin Oak was released and in 2019 a Sauvignon Blanc Finish expression also became available.
