Cragganmore Whisky
Cragganmore is a Speyside distillery a short distance from the river Spey in Ballindalloch. The distillery was founded in 1869 by John Smith and was taken over by his brother in 1886. Cragganmore remained under family ownership for over fifty years up until 1923 when it was sold to Cragganmore-Glenlivet Distillery Co.
Today the distillery is owned by Diageo who produce over one hundred different Scotch brands. Interestingly the distillery has two spirit stills that have unusual flat tops that were part of the original design when the distillery was first opened. It is reported these stills add a distinctive style to the new make spirit. Much of the whisky produced is used in blends and you can also find an official core range. Included is this range is a 12 year old and a Distiller’s Edition. There have been other exciting releases, most recently including a 48 year old Prima & Ultima.
