Fettercairn Whisky
Fettercairn distillery is located in the Scottish Highland whisky producing region under the Grampian foothills in the Howe of Mearns. It has a long history dating back to 1824 when it was founded by Sir Alexander Ramsay who converted an old corn mill.
The distillery is home to two very unusual spirit stills. A cooling ring connects to the top of the stills which showers them with water. This allows more reflux when the spirit is distilled letting only the finest vapours rise.
Owners Whyte & Mackay are not afraid to experiment and they are working on different ideas to help shape the production of their whisky. The use of new varieties of oak, new barley and yeasts for making and maturing whisky is currently underway.
The style of Fettercairn whisky is distinctly tropical. The core range consists of the 12, 18, 22 and 28 year old which display and compliment the signature tropical style. There is also the limited annual 16 year old Fettercairn single malt release to look out for.
