Glen Keith Whisky
Glen Keith is a Speyside region distillery founded in 1957 by Chivas Brothers. Situated in Keith, in the historic county of Banffshire the distillery was always planned for producing whisky for blending. Glen Keith was also used by the owners to experiment with triple distillation and to trial the use of column stills. The installation of a gas-fuelled still in 1970 was the first of its kind in Scotland.
In 1999 Glen Keith ceased production for over 13 years due to excess stock in a relatively slow market. After major reconstruction work, the distillery was up and running again in 2013 and like before the whisky was used in blends.
In the 1990’s an official bottling was released named Glen Keith 1983 which was succeeded by a 10 year old. There is now one core expression which is the Distillery Edition. The character of the whisky is smooth with notes of tropical fruits, vanilla and honey.
