Glentauchers Whisky
Glentauchers was founded in 1897 and is located in the Speyside region near Keith in the county of Banffshire. It was established by the renowned whisky blender James Buchanan and W. P. Lowrie a well know whisky trader. The distillery is mainly used to produce whisky for blending with only two official bottling's to date. Ballantine’s and Teacher’s are two of the well know brands of blended whisky that Glentauchers is a main part of. The spirit is also popular with Gordon & MacPhail, Douglas Laing and a few others independent bottler’s showcasing the whisky as a single malt.
In 1985 the distillery was mothballed and four years later production started once more under Allied Distillers ownership. Currently Pernod Ricard {Chivas Brothers British subsidiary} own the distillery after Allied Distillers became part this larger operation in 2005. The company has recently almost finished turning Glentauchers into a carbon-neutral distillery with the use of biofuel.
