Lagg Whisky
Lagg is a fairly new distillery to the south of Arran. Building work began in 2017 and production started in March 2019. Lagg is the second distillery on the island owned by the Isle of Arran Distillers Ltd. The first Arran distillery now renamed Lochranza has enjoyed great success inspiring the owners to construct the second one on the island.
The attractive building is very modern and houses four washbacks, one wash still and one spirit still. Looking ahead there is also room for four more washbacks and one more pair of stills. Lagg produces peated whisky and uses barley with a phenol level of 50ppm and higher. There were three initial single malt whiskies that were released from the distillery in August 2022. One was aged in ex-bourbon, one in ex-oloroso and the third in ex-red wine casks.
The distillery welcomes visitors and offers tastings and tours to take advantage of the great many tourists visiting this beautiful island each year.
