The Springbank 30 year old is the highly anticipated new 2023 whisky release from the distillery. All the whisky from Springbank is produced fully in-house and this exceptional bottling is no exception. The spirit was lightly peated and distilled two and a half times then matured in 80% ex-bourbon and 20% ex-sherry casks. After maturing for three decades the resulting collectable whisky is light and delicate with a mellow, creamy, buttery mouthfeel.

The Springbank distillery is located on the Kintyre Peninsula on the west coast of Scotland. Founded in 1824 the distillery is family owned by J & A Mitchell Ltd and is one of the last remaining in the Campbeltown whisky producing region. Releasing some fantastic quality whiskies demand in the market has rocketed in recent years making the brand hugely collectable. In 2019 Springbank was first on the Rare Whisky 101 list of investable whiskies.
The distillery makes three individual styles of single malt. Longrow which is peated and double distilled, Hazelburn which is non-peated and triple distilled and Springbank which is slightly peated and distilled two and half times. Both Hazelburn and Longrow take their names from lost distilleries opposite the current site. All the barley used for these whiskies is malted using Springbank’s own traditional floor maltings. As well as a great core range there are also yearly limited releases of the older single malts.

Official Tasting Notes
Nose: We are welcomed into this dram with a characteristically fruity nose in notes of baked pineapple, peach and upside down cake. There are hints of serrano ham, honey and peat smoke from the outset.
Taste: Light and delicate on the palate, the fruit notes continue and a waxy element is introduced. There is a creamy, buttery mouthfeel reminiscent of brandy butter, and notes of parma violets.
Finish: Dry in the finish, there are notes of raisins and mixed peel to round off this dram.
